Wedding Favor Basics

You visited a few times and I would appreciate your thoughts on this post, why not comment?

There are many couples who absaloutly hate organizing their Wedding favors, because most people think that they are so difficult to organize and that they require so much time, and sometimes, money as well. It can also be difficult to think outside the square when it comes to favors, but with a few simple steps and ideas you could have fabulous favors….

Back to wedding favors…

Pick The Right Wedding FavorsThere really are two common ways to choose your favors: DIY Favors or symbolic favors. Once you have this out of the way, then you already have a direction in which you are heading.
A good place to start looking at favor ideas is to look through your favorite magazines, websites and browsing though specialty shops. Make a list of any ideas you like as you go along.

Make It Personalized

What sets the average run of the mill favors apart from those which stand out is the personality. Personal favors, which have meaning to your guests will always be remembered over a standard box of chocolates. There is nothing wrong with chocolates, but what about having an exquisite chocolate, rather than a standard box?
If your favors mean something to you, or bring some of your personality out as a couple, then that is what is going to make the difference.

Choosing The Package

There are so many different ways that you can package your favors. From pretty boxes and clear cellophane bags to silver canisters – how you choose to wrap your favors can make the difference. If you are looking for ideas then take a look at HansonEllis.com for an excellent range of favors, and DIY Favor packages. You could even simply make a trip to your nearest fabric store for ribbons or an art store for other supplies.

Making The Presentation

So you have chosen your favors, and given them some personality, so why would you go and spoil all your hard work you have done so far by leaving them on the table? Sure, there is really nothing wrong with that, but is that what you really want, or do you want to have something different?

Why not have your waiters pass around the personalized cup cakes and jars of jam around after dinner on shiny silver trays, or you could just as easily make your favors the table centerpiece. You could personally give your guests their favors as everyone leaves the reception, although if you have 300 guests, this might be a bit of a busy task.

Final Words of Favors

Make your favors your own, and there is nothing wrong with giving you favors your personal stamp. Your guests would certainly appreciate it.

Wedding Rehearsal Dinners

You visited a few times and I would appreciate your thoughts on this post, why not comment?

Don’t let the name mislead you, although you may not be spending your entire evening practicing your walk down the aisle, or the routines of your wedding ceremony, you will spend most of the evening eating and mixing with close family and friends.

Back to wedding planning…

What is The Wedding Rehearsal Dinner? Well, quite simply, the rehearsal dinner is exactly that, a rehearsal. Traditionally it is hosted by the groom’s parents on the eve of the wedding.

Although it is not always necessary for it to be a formal occasion, but it is a good time to go over the service with the bride, groom and wedding party. You should use this opportunity to go over the finer details of the wedding day, and a last chance to iron out any minor issues.

Usually after the rehearsal has taken place, everyone gets together for a more relaxed celebration dinner, where toasting may take place and gifts may be handed out. Remember to go easy on the toasting though, as tomorrow is going to be a long day!

Who Hosts the Rehearsal Dinner? Traditionally, it is the groom’s family who hosts the dinner, but in todays ever changing traditions, it really could be anyone. You could do it yourselves, or, you could even get both families to host it together.

Who Do You Invite?

Typically the guest list may include:

Immediate family
wedding-party members and any spouses and significant others
The parents of any child attendant
You should also invite the officiant and his/her spouse to the dinner. There are a few events which are generally involved in your rehearsal dinner:

Toasting
Your wedding day is going to be hectic, and you probably wont have too much time to toast everyone on the day, and so now is probably a good time to toast close friends and family. During the rehearsal dinner toasts are usually started off by the groom’s father, followed by the groom who has the last few words to say.

Giving of gifts
This is also a good time to give your thank-you gifts to your attendants, so be sure to show your appreciation to your parents and anyone else who has played an important role in the planning of your wedding.

Wedding Planning Tips

You visited a few times and I would appreciate your thoughts on this post, why not comment?

Planning a wedding requires a lot of time and energy. This is normally the biggest day in the life of a bride. Both the wedding ceremony and reception require advanced organizing and planning well ahead of the scheduled event.

Bridal Party
Your bridal party is one of the most significant aspect of your wedding. Both you and your groom have special people in mind for these event. Pick your bridal party with care, and make certain that they are the group of people closest to you. Assign your bridal party with various tasks such as organizing and preparation of important details. Ensure that they fully understand what you require from them.

Venue
Confirm a date and then select a special location to have your wedding. Make certain that there are not too many weddings taking place on the same day. Before fully committing to a venue, remember to check – if the bride is provided with a room to freshen up, if the air conditioning is working properly, if there is proper access for the handicap, the number of people attending your wedding and the cost of other arrangements such as seating. Normally, receptions run for about seven hours. Check if you are eligible for any discount and if there is an extra charge – if in case, the venue is used after the confirmed duration.

Wedding Caterer

Another wedding planning tip is to make certain that you create the perfect menu. Keep in mind that your guests will remember if the food was good or bad! Look for a caterer with good references. Collect a few quotations and try out their sample cooking before selecting a caterer of your choice.

Wedding Photographer
It is important that your photographer is able to snap all of the little events taking place on your wedding day. These photos and the wedding video are the important things which you will have to remember your special day by. Provide constructive instructions to your photographer. Decide what kind of photos you require – should they be formal or more candid?

Wedding Music
Carefully plan what kind of music you would like to play at your ceremony and reception – should the tone be formal, fun or romantic? Many couples prefer to play instrumental music at their ceremony. Music generally sets the perfect tone at a wedding, and there should not be too much silence in the background.

Wedding Photographer Money Saving Tips

You visited a few times and I would appreciate your thoughts on this post, why not comment?

First, we must state that your wedding photography is not an area of the wedding where you would want to be cutting corners. There are, however, a few ways to save money overall, to ensure that your wedding photos don’t cost you any more than they should.

But remember, you are going to get what you pay for.

Back to wedding photographer…

Always hire a professional photographer. It isn’t recommended that you ask your friend who “takes good pictures” to photograph your wedding. Hire a professional experienced wedding photographer.

Ask your photographer to limit their time taking pictures. You can save money by choosing a “ceremony only” package. This is where the photographer takes pictures before and during the ceremony but not at the reception.

The photographer would take all of the formal pictures of the bride and groom, family and wedding party and photograph the ceremony. You can then ask family or friends to take photos of the reception, or place disposable cameras on each table for the guests to use.

When using disposable cameras, you should also take into account the cost of developing the films.

Be careful of all the extras that your photographer may offer, such as the “Deluxe or Ultra” wedding album or a framed wedding portrait. Remember, what really counts are the pictures themselves and not the packaging!

Preparing For that Ideal Romantic HONEYMOON

You visited a few times and I would appreciate your thoughts on this post, why not comment?

Making arrangements for any wedding is sufficiently nerve racking. While producing arrangements for any honeymoon is supposed to be a delight. So long as both the bride and groom are from the same mind concerning the location and the happenings, this fraction of the new existence journey should be a snap to plan. Making plans for the ideal passionate honeymoon ought to take an account of points that are pleasing to each.

In general, a pleasant and passionate honeymoon can take place anyplace wherever the honeymooners can get some valuable time together with a lot of time and space alone. Very few individuals want lots of others all over for the duration of their exceptional distinctive trip together. The holiday, regardless of whether it’s for any weekend or a complete month, is intended to help out both of you to ease in to married existence and make long lasting recollections. It’s supposed to become pleasant, comforting and passionate.

Prior to setting up a journey, it is a good thought for each the groom and the bride to sit down and talk about alternatives. Be sure to choose a place jointly – one that is really pleasing to each. Even though it is expected that a lot of time will be spent within the room, attempting to go out should be an enjoyable decision that presents lots of passionate potentials, too.

Here are some guidelines on locations to go:

* Beach destinations. For many, there are a couple of points a lot more romantic for example gazing at a sunset on a ideal beach while sipping on drinks with little paper straws and looking at palm trees sway inside a warm breeze. If this is pleasing, then places such as Hawaii, South Carolina, California, Florida, and even the islands from the Caribbean and some European destinations and so on are all good options. They all present their own distinctive appeal and other potentials for romance and exciting activity.

* Europe. If staying in a historic city perhaps surrounded by the walls of a romantic, medieval fortress seems like a dream come true, then countries for example Germany, England, Scotland and Ireland may be believed about. Tourism possibilities are hard to believe in any of the destinations and lodging can really be as costly or as standard as a couple’s budget asks for.

* Mountains. There are couple of locations a lot more passionate than isolated mountain chalets. Obtaining back to nature presents some hard to believe sights, which turns out to become very passionate and also the seclusion can’t be beat. Places to think about for this kind of trip comprise of anyplace in the Rockies, the Smokey Mountains, New York, Pennsylvania, Canada and Europe. Again lodging can comprise of expensive chalets or more rural log cabins and perhaps even tent camping. No matter what, anything both the groom and also the bride consider goes.

* Ocean cruises. When it comes to gorgeous sights and chic dealings, cruises are inevitable. With lots to do and see, there’s ample to please you outside of that stateroom.

It is immaterial what you do or where you go on your honeymoon, just maintain in mind that the tour is for each the bride and groom. It is a time to kick back, loosen up and get to be acquainted with each other even much better before the day-to-day routine of married existence sets in. Just make sure that the trip is pleasing to you both – make it enjoyable and unwind. It is the bits and pieces that lifetime recollections are made of.

A romantic honeymoon can be economical, reasonably priced or exaggerated. As lengthy as the two most essential people are having an enjoyable time, that is all that matters. Forget about the constant worry of preparing behind at the wedding and just take pleasure within the honeymoon.

Honeymoon For Less

You visited a few times and I would appreciate your thoughts on this post, why not comment?

The secret to getting the most out of your honeymoon budget is simply to shop around, and to plan ahead. We have a few tips for you to use to ensure that you get the best value for money, and still enjoy the perfect honeymoon.

1. Set Your Priorities
Before you start looking at honeymoon destinations, you will need to decide just what you want from your honeymoon. If you are looking for pampering and luxury, then you should be looking at booking yourself in at a spa resort. However, if you are looking to get away from it all, then you should use the same amount of money you had budgeted to take a week long camping trip, with gourmet meals and lots of treats.

2. Win With A Travel Agent
If you are looking for one-stop, stress-free trip planning, then quote simply, a travel agent is exactly what you should be looking for. Travel agents can be the greatest little helpers out. They have all the contacts, and they know exactly how to save a few $$ here and there. They know what are good sales, and what are bad resorts. So what’s the down side to travel agents then? Well they usually charge a small fee, but in most cases it is definitely well worth it.

3. Honeymoon Registry
Did you know that there are some travel agencies and tour operators who offer a registry service by which they collect, track, and apply contributions from your wedding guests toward your honeymoon expenses?

4. Choose An Off-Season Locale
Assuming your departure date is fixed, then you will want to consider a destination or cruise itinerary which is in the off season. This usually results in a drastic drop in prices, and far smaller crowds. There are some exotic destinations which have great all year round weather as well. Click here for Honeymoon Weather Reports.

5. Cheaper Locales
There are often many variables which can make a particular destination a real deal. Some of these may include a weak local currency or heavy tourist traffic. I know that this may sound bad as well, but other reasons include disasters, such as weather disasters, like tsunamis, hurricane damage or earthquakes.

6. Staying Closer To Home
As we all know with travel, the shorter your flight, the cheaper it is going to be. So, having established this, look for honeymoon destinations which are closer to home. This will either save you money, or free up some money for a better hotel room or other extras!

7. Book Early
Many hotels, cruises and destinations have an added discount for early bookings.

8. Shop For Sales
According to Consumer Reports Travel Letter, the best (or cheapest) times to buy airline tickets are October through December and January through March.

9. Read The Paper Like A Hawk
Not only should you scan for travel deals for flights originating in your hometown, but be sure that you read the fine print as well. Too many disclaimers spell trouble. It is sometimes better simply to deal with major airlines, and not charter flights, and familiar hotel chains.

10. Consider Alternative Airports
Sometimes you may want to, or have to, sacrifice your convenience for savings. So you may want to choose a flight which lands at a smaller airport, instead of the main city airport. If you do do this, then you will also just want to call your hotel to make sure that the cab fare isn’t going to negate the savings you just cleverly made.

11. Consider Alternate Modes of Travel
Remember that flying with a major airline is not the be all and end all of air travel. Although you may want to avoid dodgy airlines, sometimes no-frills, low-fare carriers are also an option.
You may also want to consider something which is different and make it part of your honeymoon, such as train ride. Even a car trip can be fun and exciting, leaving plenty of time for sight seeing stops along the way!

12. Don’t Forget Frequent Flier Miles
Simple. Don’t forget about all those little bonuses you are making with every swipe of your credit card.

13. Book Online
Some hotels and airlines offer Internet-booking discounts or bonuses such as frequent flyer miles. So don’t forget to shop around and see what’s available on the web.

14. An All-Inclusive Hotel, Cruise, or Tour
One of the best parts about these kinds of packages is the fact that there are no surprises. Most all-inclusive rates include room, all meals, drinks, activities, entertainment, tips, taxes, and airport transfers.

15. Consider A Bed-And-Breakfast
If you are really looking to save as much as possible, or just something a little different, then why not look at the bed and breakfast option. They may lack privacy, but many make it all up with romance and luxury amenities.

16. Self Catering
You may want to consider that you can book a condo or villa with it’s own cooking facilities, where you will be able to prepare your own meals whenever the need takes you.

17. Sleep Cheap, Live Large
Why not book the cheapest room in the most expensive hotel you can find? At least by doing this you will be able to enjoy the benefits of the hotel, and free up additional money to shop or explore the town or country side you are staying in.

Wedding Gowns Glossary

You visited a few times and I would appreciate your thoughts on this post, why not comment?

Wedding Gown Glossary

When it comes to wedding gown terms for different necklines and sleeves, I don’t know how much you know about the different options, but they can often be confussing. It is important that you understand what the different options are, as you don’t want to think you know what your dress maker is talking about, only to discover later on down the line that you were completely wrong.

Back to wedding gowns…

Wedding gown Neckline Glossary

Off-The-Sholder

This is just like the name implies, the neckline sits below the shoulders, and showcases a woman’s collarbone and shoulders. Sleeves that cover part of the upper arm.

Although this style may better suit medium or full chested women, it will suit just about any figure, unless you have broad shoulders or fuller arms.

Portrait

This is quite similar to the off-the-shoulder style, but it usually has a bit more fabric. The portrait neckline is usually characterized by a wide, soft scoop from the tip of one shoulder to the tip of the other. This would easily suit brides who have prominent collarbones and fuller arms.

Sweetheart

The sweetheart neckline is shaped like the top half of a heart. The sweetheart is often done with an overlay of sheer material that rises higher than the heart shape, giving the torso a longer line and also making the neck look longer. This style is possibly better suited to women who have fuller chests.

Halter Neck

The halter usually features straps which wrap around the back of the neck. The halter neck usually looks better on women who have broad shoulders and women who are tall. if you have narrow shoulders – then steer clear of this one!

V-Neck

The neckline dips down in the front, and on occasions the back as well, in a V-shape. This design usually de emphasizes the bust, and so would better suit brides who have B or C cups, and it would not flatter the larger, or even flat chested bride at all.

Sabrins or Bateau

This shape gently follows the curve of the collarbone, almost to the tip of the shoulders, and is best suited for the flat chested bride.

Scoop

The scoop is a U-shaped neckline, and is universally flattering, and so is good for just about anyone, big or small.

Jewel

This is also known as the T-shirt neckline, simply because it is very similar to an actual T-shirt. The jewel neckline is round and sits at the base of the throat. It would better suite small chested brides, as it may make you look bustier. This also means that it wont suit large breasted brides, as it would make your bust look even bigger.

Strapless

The strapless neckline is generally a popular choice for brides who have a large bust, and brides who have nice shoulders and collarbones.

Wedding Gown Sleeve Glossary

T-Shirt Sleeves

The sleeves look like those on your T-shirt. This would probably suit brides who wish to cover their arms, but don’t want to wear long sleeves, so if you are self conscious about baring your upper arms – T-Shirt sleeves are for you!

Cap Sleeves

Similar to the T-shirt sleeve, but shorter and often more rounded. If you have slender or well-toned upper arms, then this is for you.

Off-The-Shoulder Sleeves

These sleeves cover the upper part of the arms while leaving the tops of the shoulders and cleavage exposed. This particular style often suits a full range of upper body shape – both big and small.

3/4-Length sleeves

This styles sleeves end midway between the elbow and the wrist, and gives a more classic, ladylike look.

Spaghetti Straps

This style is reserved for those who are genetically blessed, or spend lots of time in the gym, and can be very sexy!

FIND EASY WAYS OF REDUCING THE COST OF YOUR WEDDING

You visited a few times and I would appreciate your thoughts on this post, why not comment?

Most of us look forward to getting married for almost the whole of our lives preceding the event and therefore have almost every specific detail, starting from the dress to the flowers to the cutlery the music and even the menu etched out in our minds. Unfortunately, when the time comes to finally turn these dreams to reality, practicality checks in, knocks us on our heads and reminds us of exactly how many dollars we have in the bank account!

Unlike what it used to be in the good old days, the modern day parents have learnt to ease their way out of bearing the financial burden of their son’s or daughter’s wedding. The logic used in this case is quite infallible really, most of us wait to tie the knot long enough to bear children, teach them how to walk and start helping them with their math homework. So, since we don’t do our share therefore the potential grandparents don’t do theirs. So finally when it comes to our wedding we are left out in the cold, joining bits and pieces of our earnings to build up the most important day of our lives.

For all of us who are bogged down by this sudden astounding realization, or the ones who will get similarly bogged down in a not so distant future date, here is a list of the average costs that you will have to incur in order to get married. Once you have the groom (or the Bride, as the case maybe), which tends to be the most expensive of the purchases, you are sure to save up enough to have a glorious wedding ceremony.

First up, flowers. Believe it or not, at any average wedding ceremony flowers can cost anything around or even above $800! Yes yes I know what you are thinking, you are probably itching to remind me how they finally add to the grandeur and emotion of the whole ceremony, but cap your outburst because ultimately this will probably be the one area you can cut your expenditure down in. If your budget is tight try something creative, scan issues of bridal magazines or the net for ideas.

Photography/Videography also takes up a large amount of your budget. Based on the kind of mementos you would want to keep from your wedding day you can end up spending anywhere between $900- $2500. Even though you probably think it’s a good idea it is best to not try and cut down your costs here, cause these will after all be one of the only things you will have to really re-live your wedding at a later date, and if saving a few dollars means you will end up looking like a fat hag or be ill-lit in your own wedding photographs then there is no point being a complete Scrooge about it.

Now if you are having a wedding ceremony, you will have to send out those few essential invitations, announcements and then the thank you notes, so there is no getting around the few hundred dollars it will set you back by, but you might try. Coax a friend with neat handwriting to take this load of your shoulders, get her to write your invitations for you, and keep it simple, so as to trim down the overall costs.

Finally of course there is the music. No wedding is complete without good music setting the right mood for the celebrations. Set apart about $1500 to fulfill your musical requirements.
Further costs include the price for the site of the ceremony. This you may safely estimate at around $400. of course you will also have to arrange for means to get to the site itself, this should cost around $450, all together. If you want to show your appreciation for the attendants with a little token of love, set apart another 400 bucks. The rehearsal dinner, which you must have, will be around $1000, the reception anywhere between $5000-$8000.

Expect your super special wedding dress to cost at least 1000 bucks and even if the groom settles for a rented tuxedo there is no getting away from the neat $500 you will have to flash out for it. So all in all, everything put together, added and multiplied, you have a whopping $25,000 bill tagged clean with your plan to get married. If marriages are really made in heaven then the God’s sure have expensive taste! However this isn’t by any means the final word in planning your wedding cheap, there are of course thousands of other ways of cutting your expenditure as per your personal means and fancies, this is just one of the very many ways of going about it. Figure out what suits you, and have a great wedding.
